Campaigns

"First: Let us examine our attitude toward peace itself. Too many of us think it is impossible. Too many think it unreal. But that is a dangerous, defeatist belief. It leads to the conclusion that war is inevitable--that mankind is doomed--that we are gripped by forces we cannot control. We need not accept that view. Our problems are manmade--therefore, they can be solved by man. And man can be as big as he wants. No problem of human destiny is beyond human beings. Man's reason and spirit have often solved the seemingly unsolvable--and we believe they can do it again."

--President John F. Kennedy at a commencement address at the American University, 1963

As the work of this movement goes forward, there will be a number of key campaigns--to register political support, to show the depth of this movement's appeal, and to begin to bring political pressure to bear on elected representatives. We have studied the anti-nuclear movements of the 1960s and 1980s, and many of the techniques and efforts they used will be used again. But for now, let's not tip our hand. This page will collect each of the events, large and small, that will make up the four major campaigns of RealistRevolt's work.

Alerting Congress -- August 6 through 10, 2018

One key task is getting Congressional representatives to take us seriously. To start this process, we want to put nuclear weapons at the top of one Congressional representative's agenda--if only for one week. This August, we want to get 50 people to call in or contact Representative Jan Schakowsky's office and tell them how much this issue matters.
